The Italians celebrate some holidays which are the same the US celebrates. For example, Easter and Christmas are celebrated mostly around the world, however, every country does it differently. In one the Italian town, the people dress up and walk through, prasing Christ and have a tribute to him.
Another Holiday is Epiphany on January 6th in which the italian people commerate the birth of Jesus. This holiday also marks the end of the Christmas period and began in the Eastern Church.
Ferragosto is a holiday in which people gather together to celebrate the Assumption of Mary. The Catholic Church moved the day of this celebration to August 15th.Â
The Holy Week custom is its decades-old outdoor Stations of the Cross and procession through the neighborhood of Little Italy on Good Friday. The stations are set up at various homes and restaurants. A lone drummer leads the procession of a corpse statue of Jesus and solemn clergy, sisters, fellow parishioners, and visitors, as we stop to pray at each station. It is lovely and sad, simultaneously, and a beautiful tribute of the Passion of Christ.
